Track days at Moto Park Kraków: timed track sessions

Moto Park Kraków is a driving technique improvement centre that organises the driving on its track itself. For a driver with their own car, the closest thing to a track day is the Szkoleniowa Jazda Torowa, a training track session with timing. On the premises every drive takes place under the supervision of an instructor or a person authorised by the centre.

Szkoleniowa Jazda Torowa: what a session looks like

A session lasts two hours and 16 cars take part, split into two groups. The groups take turns on the track, which is about 2 km long, every 15 minutes, so there are 60 minutes of actual driving. The whole thing takes two and a half hours: first half an hour for registration and scrutineering, then two hours on track. TAG Heuer timing is included in the price, and three instructors oversee the session. There is no theory part.

Only the driver may sit in the car. They must be an adult and hold a category B driving licence.

What you need

The session is meant for civilian cars registered for road use. The centre requires:

• a valid technical inspection and current third-party liability and personal accident insurance,
• road-homologated seat belts and seats, with no roll cage,
• at least one 1 kg fire extinguisher and a first-aid kit,
• a car in working order, without leaks or signs of faults, with items in the cabin and the boot secured or taken out,
• no aftermarket modifications; an air filter, a rear silencer, shock absorbers, brake discs and callipers and tuning spoilers are allowed,
• a catalytic converter in cars built after 1995.

The noise limit is 98 dB. The rules describe a measurement at 2/3 of maximum revs (no fewer than 3800) at 0.5 m from the exhaust outlet, or on the move, and the staff may repeat it during the session. Alcohol is completely banned on the premises.

Sports driving training in your own car

If you prefer working with an instructor to free driving, there is sports driving training as a group course. It is an hour of lectures and four hours of practice in a group of six: slalom, chicanes, standing starts, reacting to a skid on the skid pad and a sporting trial. You can drive your own car or one of the centre's. The centre opens the advanced version only to people who have done the basic training with it.

The dates of both formats are in the calendar on the centre's website. That is where you book a place and pay online straight away. Each date shows the number of free places.

Remember that this is driving at a training centre, not exclusive hire of the track. The venue's rules tell you to follow the instructions of the instructor and the staff without exception, whoever's car you are driving.
